Lykke Li’s debut performances in London left packed audiences pleasantly shell-shocked. A master of subtle delivery, leftfield arrangements, a lovelorn melody, and minimalist brilliance, there's sticking power coursing through her veins. Through the layered, multi-instrumental flavour of her music - you’ll hear harpsichords, flutes, and theremins - there’s a perfect balance of city and suburb that pours from the organic, digital feel of her songs and her sumptuously fragile yet jarringly brutal lyricism tells tales of her extraordinary life. Produced by Bjorn Yttling, of Peter, Bjorn and John fame, Lykke Li is yet another reason why Moshi Moshi are so dam consistent.

Best known as the guitarist with the hot pink axe in precocious trio Test Icicles Dev Hynes now dedicates his time to the sweetly melodic fare that’s closer to his soul. After linking arms with Saddle Creek producer / multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis he then gathered up a band including moonlighting members of Bright Eyes, Cursive, The Faint and Tilly & the Wall and guest vocalist, and tour party member, Emmy The Great. With this Royal Flush in his back pocket it was time to flesh out his warm folk-pop and country-rock. The result was Falling Off The Lavender, an utterly stunning and critically acclaimed debut.

Last time this quintet played Brighton it was a sell-out - kids queued up hours before doors just to get in first. Their blistering blend of grime, indie, electronica and punk - AKA asbo-disco - had already gathered up a dedicated fan base the size of Europe, and that was only on the back of Myspace and a few singles. Now that they’ve finally let their debut album slip it is a certainty that the tickets for this show will not hang around.

After splitting up last year (at their Brighton show) Bonde Do Role are back and they’re reignited by two new band members. Unsurprisingly they’re still all about fun. Fun. Fun. And more fun. Tropicalla, heavy metal, baile funk, bizarre cut n' paste samples and samba all feature in their melee of out and out enjoyment.
“… a hotbed of weird, unexpected noises overflowing with youthful exuberance to the point of an E number overdose. With such infectious charm if you don’t throw yourself into it, frankly you’re just a funk party pooper.” BBC

Following last year's stunning collaboration with Australian drummer Jim White, Nina Nastasia returns with similar pared-back airs of 'You Follow Me’, showcasing the amazing vocal talents and high quality songwriting that have become her hallmark. Well-known for her minimal arrangements and Southern Gothic approach to purging hurt, rage, and disappointment, held beautifully together by her elegantly simple but arresting voice, the searing honesty in her songs will leave you virtually unprepared for something so utterly beguiling and hauntingly comely.

Adored by legions of critics & fans alike Jose relies simply on his eloquent classical guitar and a mature, assured voice to create an inimitable sonic world with an irresistible allure think Nick Drake & Tim Buckley. Lo-fi folk doesn't get any more exotic. Born and raised in Gothenburg to Argentinian parents, "Gonzalez grew up listening to bossa nova and Joy Division, and deftly picks at his classical guitar with a flamenco flourish"Q
The Swedish singer-songwriter marries "Nick Drake's mournful minimalism to deftly picked, Latino guitar. The results melodic purity, a mesmeric rhythmic drive and stark emotionalism are extraordinary." UNCUT

Wildbird and Peacedrums are married couple Mariam and Andreas Werliin, who met in 2004 at Gothenburg’s Academy of Music and Drama. Their provocative, freewheeling approach to the sparse and beautiful boldly reverberates a naturally imaginative pairing via the most simplistic of arrangements. She sings, he drums. After a truly inspirational performance at this year’s Great Escape Festival we’re so pleased to be hosting their Brighton headline debut.

Singer, composer, poet, video artist: Cibelle is chameleon-like in her ability to change her music's subtle directions. Merging samba sounds of the fifties and sixties with bossa nova, traditional Brazilian down-tempo and modern electronic trickery, her blend of acoustic guitars, percussion, electric bass, analog keyboards and digital mathematics is definitely mellow but never bland. And with such a uber sexy crystal-like voice , sung in equal parts Portuguese as English, are we really that surprised?

Mercury Rev were formed in Buffalo, New York in the late 1980's. In the two decades since they have never ceased to amaze with their shimmering cinematic explorations into musical mystery and wonder. Mixing intricate melodies, dreamy poetic lyrics and meandering, open-ended arrangements with Jonathan Donahue's irreplaceable voice they first caught the main stream in 1997 with the critically acclaimed masterpiece Deserter's Songs.
2008 sees them release two new albums, one available as a free download and one for sale. This is an amazing opportunity to catch one of world's finest rock bands outside of big city venues, please buy early to avoid disappointment.
'Their songs celebrate the irrational, the domain of feelings beyond words.'
