4 Days Until Pete Roe’s Brighton Show!

On Monday we welcome the first of our May shows to town. On the final show of his solo tour, Mr Pete Roe performs live at The Greys in the heart of Hanover on Southover Street. Pete Roe is the multi instrumentalist/vocalist, known and remarked upon, as the live and studio stalwart in the lovely Laura Marling’s band and he’s also toured with Mumford and Sons! His debut album “Our Beloved Bubble” has been out for a matter of days now, but we’ve been playing it non stop in the MV office! (How cool is that artwork?) His single ‘Further Into Midnight’ he wrote when he was angry. And we’re glad he did! Pete played this live at The Wilmington Arms in London for his launch last month. If you weren’t there, don’t worry. Watch it back here. The night was sold out and absolutely jam packed. Before Pete took to the stage, he announced a special guest and referring to her as his ‘old boss’ he introduced Laura Marling to the stage! Laura played a brace of truly beautiful songs from her eagerly anticipated 4th album, ‘Once I Was an Eagle’ including the beautiful ‘Once’ Can we expect this to happen in Brighton on Monday!? You’ll have to come and see for yourself!

Pete will be joined by his band Hot Feet who will be playing their own set too, and will also be joined by our favourite Brighton girl Bella Spinks! The 20 year old Brighton singer/songwriter has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Regina Spektor. She also played her first gig at Concorde 2 when she was just 12 years old. That’s TWELVE YEARS OLD. Her live performances are intriguing and compelling, which is why she’s supported a few MV shows to date.

If you need a start to your festival music fuelled weekend in Brighton then this is the perfect way to kick it off. Live at The Greys, the pub in the heart of Hanover which is bursting with character and perfect for intimate shows, tickets will be £9 on the door or from here!

Don’t forget our second show for May is rising folk star Chris Wood! This show has been moved from April 26th to May 26th at The Basement. If you got a ticket for the April date don’t worry, your ticket is still valid. If you’re still in need of a ticket, pick one up here!

This week we also gave you yet ANOTHER new announcement! Tamikrest will play Komedia October 22nd! Tamikrest are a desert blues band who hail from Mali, along the same lines of Tinariwen. Through the message of their songs, Tamikrest want to make Tamasheq poetry and culture accessible to inhabitants of a world larger than the immensity of the Saharian desert. Intrigued? Interested? Their captivating live show has landed them a spot on the Latitude line-up this year. We’re really excited for this one, and tickets are on sale now through Komedia‘s box office or here!
