Remember Remember The Shows In November…

November is just around the corner now and as the weather gets slightly colder and that little bit more dull, we have TEN shows to keep you gigging around Brighton and to stop you from moaning and the weather.

On Saturday 3rd we have the mighty Charlatans legend Tim Burgess bringing his new fantastic solo album ‘Oh No I Love You’ for us to have a listen and a dance to at Coalition. Tim will also be selling the brilliant single ‘White on 7″ white vinyl at the show for just a fiver! Listen to it here! Tickets are still available here, don’t miss The Charlatans front man‘s solo tour come to Brighton!

On the 10th we have the wonderful Texas based singer-songwriter Micah P Hinson at The Basement! Now if you don’t know of The Basement, it’s a unique and atmospheric space in our North Laines, ideal for showcasing music and live performances. If you were around for Vive La France! festival last year, you would have seen the beautiful Mélanie Pain here. It’s the ideal setting to see this old fashioned troubled man. His fourth album ‘Micah P Hinson and the Pioneer Saboteurs’, is drenched in strings and desolation and inspired by the political changes in his native America. Tickets are available here but are selling fast so get yours while you still can.

On the 14th one of the world’s most exciting and innovative folk bands pays a visit to Proud Cabaret Brighton! Lau have won ‘Best Group’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for three years  running from 2008 to 2010, and their new album ‘Race The Loser’ came out in September, securing their title of being undoubtedly among the biggest names in contemporary folk. Tickets for their intimate show in Proud Cabaret Brighton are available here. Don’t miss out!

We welcome Brighton’s very own Grasscut on the 15th at The Green Door Store. Their sophomore album “Unearth,” is out now, and described as a spectral, double-exposed collection of songs inspired by fragments of the past that endure into the present. With support from The Creaking Chair this is a great opportunity to welcome our Brighton boys back. Tickets are available here.

Next we welcome back our favourite sisters The Staves back for a special performance at Komedia on the 20th! Back in May, these three Watford sisters wowed us with their show at Proud Cabaret Brighton before setting off supporting the incredible Bon Iver on their American tour. They’ve had an amazing year and they return to Brighton and will have some fanatastic stories to tell us, as well as bringing their beautiful harmonies and and songs of course. They also bring support from Luke Sital-Singh, the wonderful singer songwriter who we’re thrilled to welcome back after a breathatking set supporting our Wild Beasts show back in July.Tickets are going really fast so don’t miss out, get yours here!

On the same night, 20th November, Oui Love Tour comes to The Blind Tiger Club. Tickets for this are only a fiver, which is crazy as you get to see three amazing new French artists plus a special performance from Omega Male! Electronic pop singer Yan Wagner, bringing his defining features of warmth pop, a sombre voice and the heat of the dancefloor. English-French duo based in Paris Jupiter are also going to be joining us. The impact of disco and electro-funk on their music is a clear one, yet the band happily quotes a wider range of influences, such as Sly & Robbie and Beach House. With New Order as spiritual fathers, and Metronomy and Cut Copy as dream-godfathers we are also joined by Juveniles, bewitching electronic pop, rich with an elastic beat and catchy choruses. Get your £5 (£5!?!) ticket here!

New York art indie rockers Ravens & Chimes visit us at The Hope on the 23rd! Their album Holiday Life is an album pulsing with triumphant energy and ‘has garnered comparisons to The Arcade Fire with its blend of bombast and impassioned lyricism’.
