With only a week to go to the fourth annual Vive La France! Festival of French Music and Culture, we thought it would be a good time to introduce you to some of the acts set to provide the joie de vivre to 2012′s event.

Speak to us from the other side of the world are Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws, currently on tour in Australia!

All at Melting Vinyl HQ have be fans of this act, who combine sultry Nick Cave infused blues with their very own French flavour! Check out their Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws recent single, The Fade Out Line, currently storming the charts throughout Europe!

And here’s what the bewitching Phoebe Killdeer had to say:

1. What are you most looking forward to about playing Vive La France in Brighton?

We’re looking forward to being part of a great event in a wonderful city. I am real excited to take part in Vive La France as without France there wouldn’t be a Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, so I will be glad to take part in the celebrations. Also hoping to discover some new bands that I might of missed out on in the French circuit.

2. How does the music scene in France differ to the UK?

Well, the music in France has more of a world, electro, chanson francaise scene where as UK has a stronger Pop/Rock scene.

3. What’s you favourite French band and your favourite UK band at the moment?

French: Melanie Pain

UK: The Jim Jones Revue

4. What’s next for Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws?

We will be touring UK , Ireland, Eastern Europe and Germany and many more countries. We are also working on some new songs for the makings of a new album.

Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws play as part of the FREE showcase at The Green Door Store on 27th January 2012 at 9.15pm, followed by a DJ Set alongside fellow Nouvelle Vague chanteuse, Melanie Pain, at Plateau from 11pm.
