New Philadelphia-based bass-guitar two piece Girlpool, come to Brighton with their playful raw sound; stripped down instrumentation and powerful feminist lyrics.

Los Angeles born, Philadelphia-based ladies, Girlpool are a two-piece made up of Cleo Tucker (Guitar) and Harmony Tividad (Bass) on Wichita Recordings. There recorded their debut LP, ‘Before The World Was Big’, with Kyle Gilbride (of Swearin’). The two met at the very cool Los Angeles DIY venue The Smell. What do they sound like? Intriguingly raw; a stripped down tight outfit of guitar, bass and vocal harmonies, all the things you love in a DIY scene band. With vulnerable and powerful lyrics demanding you pay attention to the words and have a little bit of fun in the process!

“Deep South Americana vibes congeal with raw rock riffery” – The Line of Best Fit

“LA newcomers keep things simple, frothing with fear, rage and empowerment” – NME 8/10

Capt.Lovelace
Travelling in Norway inspired Beattie’s music. She simply keeps taking an intuitive folk ride along the seaside. The simplicity of the guitar is mixed with a personal poetry and slight melancholy. Follow the woo-hoo instructions and create your own computer program. https://www.facebook.com/CaptainLovelace
