Here at Melting vinyl towers we’re very happy to announce that the renowned James Yorkston will be visiting the Brighton Ballroom this September for a very special performance!

The first member of the Fence collective to hail from Fife, Yorkston found his feet supporting luminaries like John Martyn and Bert Jansch. Hailed as ‘the finest songwriter of his generation’ by the late, great John Peel, he’s now ten years into his career, and has released a string of acclaimed full-lengths.

With his debut book ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ – The Touring Diaries of a Scottish Gent’ now available and his new record ‘I Was a Cat from a Book’ set to drop through Domino Records this August, there’s never been a better time to catch Yorkston’s much-lauded live show. Book early to ensure you catch this uniquely imtimate treat.

“Yorkston’s mournful vocal burr is intimate and engaging, while the instrumental backings are consistently inventive, whether providing stately strings, purring pedal steel or psych-folk soundscapes. This is an inspired homage to timeless British song” The Guardian

“Yorkston shares with Guy Garvey a voice of gruff delicacy, and has the same deft ability to wrap a lyric with the right level of tenderness and yearning while never being cloying.” The Quietus
