As a violinist, Joan Wasser has performed with acts such as Lou Reed, Sheryl Crow and Rufus Wainwright among others. In 2002, Wasser formed Joan As Policewoman with Rainy Orteca and Ben Perowsky. Described as “punk rock R&B” and “American soul music”, Joan As Policewoman combine classical soul with rougher, more experimental sounds.
