We are pleased to announce that American songstress Marissa Nadler will be playing Brighton on 22nd April at Komedia Studio Bar!

Nadler has been active since 2004 when she released her début album Ballads of Living and Dying on Eclipse Records in the US. The album showcased her ethereal mezzo-soprano voice backed by ambient reverb-laden production. Pitchfork has described her voice as something that would “follow you straight into Hades”.

Born into a creative family with an abstract painter mother, Nadler was exposed to art and music at a very young age. She took up guitar as a teenager, and continues to use acoustic guitar finger-picking as the foundation for her songs.

Since 2004, Nadler has remained prolific and released six albums; her third album Songs III: Bird on the Water brought her two PLUG Awards nominations in 2008 – “Best Female Artist of the Year” and “Best Americana Record of the Year”. Her latest effort titled July due out 2014 on Bella Union in the UK will be just as anticipated. Drawing on real-life experience and blending it with Gothic and mythical themes, Nadler continues to impress with her unique and insightful songwriting, and that creativity is something that should be witnessed live.
