The Dark Season Is Nearly Upon Us..

We’ve had a great week so far at Melting Vinyl HQ! Two shows on Tuesday were a blast – the lovely Staves had everyone in a dream like state, as did their brilliant support, Melting Vinyl favourite, Luke Sital-Singh. We also had the Oui Love Tour showcasing the 3 hottest French bands around right now. The crowd at The Blind Tiger Club went crazy for Juveniles, who used a full drum kit in their electronic set giving them a big kick (pun intended). Jupiter were a lot of fun with their energetic, bouncy pop atmosphere and Yan Wagner proved why he was Clash Music’s track of the day last week, with his hypnotic, moody Joy Division esque set.

BUT NOW! We’re looking forward to a night of folk fun at the Towner gallery in Eastbourne this Saturday! Come and immerse yourself into the dark with Night Folk, with so much going on your night will be transformed into a weird and wonderful world. You are encouraged to come in folk character. To get you started we’ve chosen five characters to provide costume inspiration: The Green ManThe PirateThe HighwaymanThe Devil and John Barleycorn – for more inspiration on costumes go to Towner’s Website here. There are prizes for the best dressed so no excuses! We’re all ready for Saturday – and we mean ALL of us.. The Mummers and Morris Men have blacked up and Early Ghost’s fabulous film with the Lewes Youth Concert band is ready to roll, the hoodening horse is in it’s stable and the turnips are to be carved into lanterns. Join our official Facebook event here and we shall see you at Towner on Saturday!

Need a day of rest on Sunday after the madness of Night Folk at Towner? Beth Orton is taking over BBC 6 Music at midday, tune in and hear all about her favourite artists, inspirations and some of her own work. Tickets for her St George’s show on the 30th are now sold out. But we’re sure she’ll be back…

Before the madness of Night Folk begins, tomorrow at The Hope all the way from New York we welcome art school rockers Ravens & Chimes! Here at Melting Vinyl HQ we are mesmerized by their acoustic version of ‘Past Lives’ they filmed 5 months ago at Break Thru Radio. You can watch it here, and let us know what you think! Tickets are just £7 or £8 on the door from 8pm. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

And next week the almighty Gaggle will be charging into Coalition on the 29th. Yes, that’s all 21 of them. Are you ready for a full on Gaggle invasion? The girls are recording their first full XFM session today. Remind yourself of their crazy, quirky style by watching this! Tickets are still available via our website, only a tenner and with support from Anneka prepare yourself for one hell of a ladies night. Don’t worry fellas, you’re invited too.
