"Burials by Cambridge-based Fuzzy Lights blends psychedelic folk, slow-burning doom metal, and atmospheric post-rock into something deeply melancholic and immersive.

Far removed from the louder side of heavy music, the band builds its sound through patience and texture, layering haunting melodies, fragile vocals, and subtle waves of distortion. There’s a quiet heaviness running through the entire record, more emotional than aggressive. A major part of that atmosphere comes from Rachel Watkins’ violin work, which drifts through the songs like the soundtrack to a psychological horror film.

Steve Knightley says ~ "We're absolutely delighted to welcome the exceptional @MeganHenwood as special guest on this autumn's Winter Yards Band tour.

Many of you will remember Megan from touring with @ShowOfHandsMusic some years ago. Her poetic, beautifully observed songs, distinctive guitar playing and powerful, expressive voice made a lasting impression, and she's since established herself as one of the country's finest contemporary singer-songwriters.

Each evening Megan will begin with a spellbinding 35-minute set of her own, before returning to the stage later to become part of the band. Joining myself, @DDelarre, @JPdoublebass and @EvanCarsonDrums, she'll add her voice, songs and musicianship to create an evening that promises to be far more than a headline act with a support.

The Winter Yards Band are all huge admirers of Megan's work, and the chemistry between these musicians has already been obvious in rehearsals. Expect collaborations, unexpected moments and the joy that comes when great artists share a stage simply because they love making music together.

This promises to be one of the highlights of the tour."

New Show Announcement 📣
Acclaimed artists rooted in folk, blues, country and Americana.

Pete + Mila Molinari (Los Angeles, USA) @petemolinari + special guests play The Prince Albert @theprincealbertbrighton on Wednesday 23rd September.

Pete is a British singer-songwriter, poet, and recording artist with one of the most quietly decorated careers in contemporary folk and blues. Born in Kent into a large Maltese, Egyptian, and Italian family, Pete cut his teeth playing the folk and blues clubs of New York's East Village before returning home to record his debut with the legendary Billy Childish, released on Damaged
Goods Records. What followed was a string of critically acclaimed albums produced at the famed Toe Rag Studios with Liam Watson, a Mojo Award nomination for Best Newcomer, and a coveted slot on Later with Jools Holland.

His fourth album, Theosophy, brought in an extraordinary cast: Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and guitarist Barrie Cadogan performed on the record, with Grammy-winning producer Tchad Blake and DJ Andrew Weatherall shaping the sound. The accolades that came back were something else entirely: Ray Davies, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and Yoko Ono all became vocal admirers. In 2013, Pete stepped onto the stage of London's Royal Festival Hall at the Meltdown Festival to sing "Woman" and "(Just Like) Starting Over" alongside Yoko Ono herself.

His most recent album, Wondrous Afternoon, was recorded in Rome with producer Luca Sapio at the legendary Piero Umiliani Sound Workshop for Blind Faith Records, the Italian independent label that has become his creative home.

Pete is returning to Europe with Mila, his wife, who joins in as a percussionist and backing vocalist. Brazilian-born and raised in a circus family, Mila is a triple threat: dancer, singer, and actress whose voice is as commanding as her stage presence. Her work channels the full glamour of Old Hollywood, the Jazz Age, and the Technicolour musicals she grew up worshipping.

Catch the sea singing along to Misadventure 🌊🌊

It’s hard not to feel seen by Lemoncello, a band whose live performances and recordings shimmer with the tones of modern Ireland. Their upcoming release, Perfect Place, evolves from the band’s folk-soaked roots and confidently explores intricate new shapes. Marking a bold new chapter for singer-songwriter Laura Quirke & cellist-arranger Claire Kinsella, “Perfect Place” is imbued with assuredness, featuring full-band recordings that weave synths and electronic percussion into the band’s staple organic sound.

Through an intimate and devastatingly personal style of storytelling, the new album reflects upon the modern tension between togetherness and alienation and the chaos of human nature with radical acceptance and compassion. Perfect Place follows on from the band’s debut self-titled record, which received critical acclaim from BBC Radio 6 Music, Clash, and The Line Of Best Fit. Described as “direct and refreshing”, and “cathartic” by critics at Mojo and RNR, the duo speak to listeners in the way that an ex or an old friend might – cultivating a sense of consolation that leaves audiences forgetting there’s a world outside of the venue. Lemoncello’s body of work is equally familiar and confronting, driven by the palpable chemistry of a long-term friendship.

Linden blends the rhythmic drive of American Primitive fingerpicking with the haunting, folkloric landscapes of the South Downs.

𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗲's sound is deceptively stripped-back, other-worldly and beautiful amidst ghosts, fairies and tragic love. Their music is like a séance; an enchanted visit to the inside of a hollow hill.
At this show, Sairie present their first full-length album, ‘Beneath the Spreading Tree’. The album continues Sairie’s exploration of early 70’s folk influences, blending otherworldly atmospherics with stripped-back arrangements.

New Show Announcement 📣

Scottish indie art-rock band The Yummy Fur @theyummyfur + special guests play The Prince Albert @theprincealbertbrighton on Wednesday 7th October.

The Yummy Fur’s first album of new material in over 25 years is seductive and ambiguous; a fast-paced flip through scenes from art, myth, life and fantasy; a witty whole made from glittering scraps. The band’s original incarnation – fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist John McKeown from 1992 to 1999, with past members from Franz Ferdinand and beloved by John Peel – morphed from making quick-hit cartoon-art songs to Eno and Cale-influenced creepers, populated by characters from McKeown’s life in Glasgow and the films, books and poetry that he lived a parallel life through. “Everybody Talks About The Weather” (out on Sep 24th through Upset The Rhythm) delights in using every past iteration of the band as potent collage material: a melee of sounds and ideas that exist at once, revealing themselves, then dipping back into hiding.

Recorded by the original core trio of McKeown, Brian MacDougall (guitar) and Paul Thomson (drums), Everybody Talks About The Weather comes 17 years after the band reformed for sporadic live shows, and seven years after the release of their sorta-greatest hits compilation Piggy Wings (Rock Action). Ten tracks long, with nothing to spare, it is as condensed and vital as their best songs, offering a new clarity of sound that brings their ambiguities to light.

Everybody Talks About The Weather is an unpredictable album from an unpredictable group, but ending on a moment of almost uncomplicated light is maybe its biggest surprise ~ Claire Biddles (2026)

New Show Announcement 📣

Spafford Campbell @spaffordcampbell are twenty-something mould-breakers: fiddle player Owen Spafford and guitarist Louis Campbell.

They play The Greys @thegreysfreehouse #Brighton (+ special guests) on Monday 30th November.

The two first met as teenagers playing traditional music. The connection, they say, was immediate. The duo Spafford Campbell began playing live in 2018, prompting double takes with their delicacy, dynamism and seemingly telepathic exchanges, with the startling intimacy of musical conversations nurtured in improv-led writing sessions.

Their latest album Tomorrow Held is a visionary body of eight largely instrumental tracks that hold space, resolve into mystery, that fold in elements of jazz, post-rock and chamber classical music while raiding the folk music toolbox. Call it what you want: post-folk. Trad-noir. Folk nihilism.

While redolent of Talk Talk’s moody, experimental 1988 opus Spirit of Eden, and riven with a Bon Iver-ish sense of transcendence, Tomorrow Held is a work of bold singularity.

𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻 is a London-based composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist whose music centres on viola, harmonium, and layered vocal drones. She continues to explore drone, experimental folk, and narrative forms, establishing herself as a singular voice in contemporary experimental music.

𝗭𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗻 𝗔 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 is a Polish-born, Brighton-based multi-disciplinary artist and musician whose music is a gentle exploration of intimate sounds and feelings, and focuses on themes of nature and landscape - both inner and outer - and our connection with the magical self.
