With past members from Franz Ferdinand and loved b With past members from Franz Ferdinand and loved by John Peel...

Scottish indie art-rock band The Yummy Fur @theyummyfur + special guests play The Prince Albert @theprincealbertbrighton on Wednesday 7th October.

The Yummy Fur’s first album of new material in over 25 years is seductive and ambiguous; a fast-paced flip through scenes from art, myth, life and fantasy; a witty whole made from glittering scraps. The band’s original incarnation – fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist John McKeown from 1992 to 1999, with past members from Franz Ferdinand and beloved by John Peel – morphed from making quick-hit cartoon-art songs to Eno and Cale-influenced creepers, populated by characters from McKeown’s life in Glasgow and the films, books and poetry that he lived a parallel life through. “Everybody Talks About The Weather” (out on Sep 24th through Upset The Rhythm) delights in using every past iteration of the band as potent collage material: a melee of sounds and ideas that exist at once, revealing themselves, then dipping back into hiding.

Recorded by the original core trio of McKeown, Brian MacDougall (guitar) and Paul Thomson (drums), Everybody Talks About The Weather comes 17 years after the band reformed for sporadic live shows, and seven years after the release of their sorta-greatest hits compilation Piggy Wings (Rock Action). Ten tracks long, with nothing to spare, it is as condensed and vital as their best songs, offering a new clarity of sound that brings their ambiguities to light.

Everybody Talks About The Weather is an unpredictable album from an unpredictable group, but ending on a moment of almost uncomplicated light is maybe its biggest surprise ~ Claire Biddles (2026)

Stornoway's songs are uplifting, heartfelt, and da Stornoway's songs are uplifting, heartfelt, and dashingly melodic...

Stornoway @stornowayband + special guests play Chalk @chalk_venue #Brighton on Sunday 25th October.

Defined by Brian’s ageless, clear tenor, Stornoway's songs are uplifting, heartfelt, and dashingly melodic; but the songs are just the start. This is a band that runs on curiosity. Producing their own records, they take a bespoke approach to each track. With a wonderfully diverse range of instrumentation and an unmistakable joy in the creative process, every one of their songs is given a very beautiful and carefully considered place to live - musically and geographically, with recording locations including campervans, wind-buffeted barns, chapels and community centres.

Now, Stornoway unveils their most ambitious album yet, Beyonder, out 25th September on Cooking Vinyl @cookingvinyl Widely recognised as a band at the intersection of music and conservation, the group continues that mission with an album of wild hope, born from isolation and exploration. Beyonder channels the powers of the natural world to reconnect us, using music to bring people closer to nature.

Beyonder is an album for a changing world. It confronts the biodiversity and climate crises, the rise of divisive politics, and the toll these pressures take on our minds and communities. These songs are about journeys and destinations, discovery and choice, and taken together they cultivate a hopeful state of mind in unsettled times.

Steve Knightley & The Winter Yards Band @steveknightleyofficial The Long Road Tour 2026 + special guest @meganhenwood play The Komedia @komedia_brighton on Wednesday, 11th November.

Blending poetic songwriting with a cinematic acoustic sound, the band’s ‘folk noir’ style has won over audiences across the UK.
Featuring David Delarre, John Parker and Evan Carson, the show combines songs from the Winter Yards album with powerful new material written on the road – stories of landscape, community and the changing world around us.

Steve Knightly is a highly acclaimed, and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, with a prominent position in the folk/acoustic and roots music scene.

Acclaimed artists rooted in folk, blues, country a Acclaimed artists rooted in folk, blues, country and Americana.

Pete + Mila Molinari (Los Angeles, USA) @petemolinari + special guests play The Prince Albert @theprincealbertbrighton on Wednesday 23rd September.

Pete is a British singer-songwriter, poet, and recording artist with one of the most quietly decorated careers in contemporary folk and blues. Born in Kent into a large Maltese, Egyptian, and Italian family, Pete cut his teeth playing the folk and blues clubs of New York's East Village before returning home to record his debut with the legendary Billy Childish, released on Damaged
Goods Records. What followed was a string of critically acclaimed albums produced at the famed Toe Rag Studios with Liam Watson, a Mojo Award nomination for Best Newcomer, and a coveted slot on Later with Jools Holland.

His fourth album, Theosophy, brought in an extraordinary cast: Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and guitarist Barrie Cadogan performed on the record, with Grammy-winning producer Tchad Blake and DJ Andrew Weatherall shaping the sound. The accolades that came back were something else entirely: Ray Davies, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and Yoko Ono all became vocal admirers. In 2013, Pete stepped onto the stage of London's Royal Festival Hall at the Meltdown Festival to sing "Woman" and "(Just Like) Starting Over" alongside Yoko Ono herself.

His most recent album, Wondrous Afternoon, was recorded in Rome with producer Luca Sapio at the legendary Piero Umiliani Sound Workshop for Blind Faith Records, the Italian independent label that has become his creative home.

Pete is returning to Europe with Mila, his wife, who joins in as a percussionist and backing vocalist. Brazilian-born and raised in a circus family, Mila is a triple threat: dancer, singer, and actress whose voice is as commanding as her stage presence. Her work channels the full glamour of Old Hollywood, the Jazz Age, and the Technicolour musicals she grew up worshipping.

Electronica and fuzzed up dream-pop. Pete Fij @pe Electronica and fuzzed up dream-pop.

Pete Fij @petefijski + special guests play The Green Door Store @greendoorstore on Thursday 22nd October

Renowned for his unmistakable voice and wry lyrical touch, Pete Fij(alkowski) makes a welcome return with fresh solo material - unveiling songs that brim with melody, wit and understated charm.

Pete first burst onto the scene in the early 90s as the frontman and guitarist of post-shoegaze / pre-Britpop band Adorable, whose 1993 album Against Perfection, released on Creation Records, is regularly referred to as a lost indie classic, with the band picking up multiple 'Single of the Week' awards in the NME, and topping the Indie charts.

He re-emerged alongside celebrated House of Love guitarist Terry Bickers to release two critically acclaimed albums as Pete Fij / Terry Bickers, winning the Roundtable 'Single of The Week' on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6Music show.

“𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘣𝘺𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱, 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤, 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘐 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘵.”

Slinging back on the electric guitar, ditching the job, upping the BPMs, and falling in love again has resulted in Pete embracing his fuzzed-up dream-pop past but also throwing in elements of pop and electronica.

Now signed to Tip Top Recordings, the title of his forthcoming LP is appropriately enough 'Up's The New Down' (released 10th July 2026). The first single from the album, the euphoric ‘Love’s Coming Back’ came out in November 2025, followed by the dark, more cinematic track “Cuckoo” in February 2026.

Pete’s lush and rich baritone voice has been compared to Lee Hazlewood, Lou Reed and Richard Hawley in the past – and fans will be pleased to hear that, if anything, he's sounding stronger, more urgent and characterful than ever.

"Burials by Cambridge-based Fuzzy Lights blends ps "Burials by Cambridge-based Fuzzy Lights blends psychedelic folk, slow-burning doom metal, and atmospheric post-rock into something deeply melancholic and immersive.

Far removed from the louder side of heavy music, the band builds its sound through patience and texture, layering haunting melodies, fragile vocals, and subtle waves of distortion. There’s a quiet heaviness running through the entire record, more emotional than aggressive. A major part of that atmosphere comes from Rachel Watkins’ violin work, which drifts through the songs like the soundtrack to a psychological horror film.

'Songbirds' stands as one of the album’s most captivating moments, balancing beauty and unease through hypnotic melodies and a haunting sense of space that lingers long after the song ends."

Steve Knightley says ~ "We're absolutely delighted Steve Knightley says ~ "We're absolutely delighted to welcome the exceptional @MeganHenwood as special guest on this autumn's Winter Yards Band tour.

Many of you will remember Megan from touring with @ShowOfHandsMusic some years ago. Her poetic, beautifully observed songs, distinctive guitar playing and powerful, expressive voice made a lasting impression, and she's since established herself as one of the country's finest contemporary singer-songwriters.

Each evening Megan will begin with a spellbinding 35-minute set of her own, before returning to the stage later to become part of the band. Joining myself, @DDelarre, @JPdoublebass and @EvanCarsonDrums, she'll add her voice, songs and musicianship to create an evening that promises to be far more than a headline act with a support.

The Winter Yards Band are all huge admirers of Megan's work, and the chemistry between these musicians has already been obvious in rehearsals. Expect collaborations, unexpected moments and the joy that comes when great artists share a stage simply because they love making music together.

This promises to be one of the highlights of the tour."

Dear Melting Vinyl supporters,

At present we are in the process of finding out what the effect of the UK Government’s latest advice to the public to avoid contact in social spaces means in terms of our upcoming events.

It may mean some shows planned for the near future could be postponed to a later date in order to safeguard our local community.

Melting Vinyl are dedicated to supporting artists and the local live music venues and we are currently in close communication with both – we will keep you all updated as soon as any news comes in on our social media.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding and please bear with us as we navigate through this unprecedented time.
