It’s The Melting Vinyl End Of Year Round-Up 2023

As a fantastic year (thank you!) begins to draw to a close, the ace Melting Vinyl team (we might be slightly biased, but they really are ace) share their highlights of the year with you – we each chose our favourite Melting Vinyl gig of 2023, and our favourite album of 2023.

A huge thank you to you all for loving live music and being part of the Melting Vinyl ‘family’. We have many more incredible live experiences for you next year, so please keep an eye on our socials, newsletter and website for news and updates.

Anna (MV owner and programming):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
Panda Bear & Sonic Boom at the Komedia on 26th April – a perfect marriage between hauntingly quirky, beach boys cool vocals and wonky-beats electronica; I lost myself in this sensory experience.
💿 Favourite Album of 2023
Unthank : Smith – Nowhere And Everywhere. A brilliant journey of tales of old and new, an array of instruments, this album feels like a very good friend!

Grant (MV Programming (with Anna)):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
My best MV show was by Erland Cooper at The Komedia on 18th September: a mesmerising, captivating and beautiful set.
💿 Favourite Album of 2023
My Album of the year is True Love by Maija Sofia. I love her voice, great songs and wonderful lyrics. Melting Vinyl put her on twice this year!

Leashia (MV Ticketing/Production):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
My favourite gig of the year was Erland Cooper at Komedia – enchanting and atmospheric.
💿 Favourite Album of 2023
My album of the year is Teleman’s – Good Time/Hard Time. Thomas has a great voice. I like their distinct sound, this album is uplifting, although I did enjoy their more ‘downbeat’ music in the earlier years. It was great to see their instore show at Resident Records.

Chris (MV Visuals and Equipment Loan):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
GLOK at 26th October Green Door Store – a great show to work on, a great sold out crowd with a great energy!
💿 Favourite Album of 2023
James Holden – Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities. A stunning album; “a dream of rave” sums it up perfectly! It was an absolute honour to be involved visually with the release of this album, and the subsequent live shows.

Alison (MV Marketing):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
Mikey Kenney + Kieran Dacey at The Greys on Monday 13th November. A small, intimate affair, where music magic occured and wonderful memories were made.
💿 Favourite Album of 2023 Adrianne Lenker – Ruined. A work of art from a wonderfully emotional and creative talent. I’ve cheated, as this is just a single release, but Adrianne’s new album will be with us next year.

Matt (MV Design):
🎇 Favourite Melting Vinyl Gig of 2023
Gasper Nali on Wednesday 18th October – the intimate Rose Hill venue was perfect to get up close and observe a master musician and the support from Michael Mountain was also fantastic.
💿 Favourite Album of 2023
V by Follakzoid – a favourite band – moving more and more electronic, less vocals, but still with their trademark motorik beats and hypnotic rhythms.

Enjoy a lovely festive season, and we’ll see you all on the other side.
Our creative, inspiring nights out in your favourite venues continue throughout 2024. Our first show of 2024 is Niall McCabe + special guests at The Greys Brighton on Monday 22nd January.

Please note that the Lewes Psychedelic Festival 2024 is now sold out.
