Two Of Our Musical Offerings For March…

So as February comes to a close, what can we expect March to bring us? Warmer weather? Sunshine? Probably not. What we can promise you though are some fantastic shows to get involved with, so wrap up warm and come and say hello!

On the 13th of March we have the wonderful Sam Carter coming to Komedia. Since winning the BBC folk award for best newcomer in 2010, the midlands born singer songwriter has been impressing both audiences and artists around the world, getting the opportunity to share stages with the likes of Nic Jones, Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson, Chris Wood and Martin Simpson.

His latest offering comes in the form of ‘The No Testament’, the follow up to 2009’s ‘Keepsakes’. This album treads some exciting new ground for Sam as he blends American style gospel music with his own contemporary songwriting. The result of which is a melting pot of intimate solo performances, electric blues, driving acapella chants and everything in between. Witnessing all of this live inside the Komedia is something that we are VERY excited about! Have a listen for yourself here.

Now, we like to keep you on your toes here at Melting Vinyl, so on the other side of the coin we have noise pop/punk trio Die! Die! Die! bringing their energetic live performance to The Green Door Store on the 21st of March. Hailing from New Zealand, Die! Die! Die! have spent a majority of their 10 year career on the road, touring with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Wolfmother and The Blood Brothers. In August 2012 the band released their fourth album ‘Harmony’, marking another stepping stone in the bands ever-developing sound. ‘Harmony’ also succeeded in making the shortlist for the 2011 Taite Music Prize. You can find out more about the band here.

Tickets for both of these events are on sale now! Pick yours up from our website or from the usual ticket outlets.
