The BV’s
The BV’s are an indiepop/shoegaze/kraut band from Penryn in Cornwall and Augsburg in Germany. They formed in a Cornish seaside town in 2016, when Fred moved in with Josh as part of university exchange programme, and recorded their first album, Speaking from a Distance, in their shared house in two weeks using improvisation and automatic writing techniques, which was later released by German label Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten. The follow-up EP Interpunktion, also released by KUS, was recorded in Cologne whilst on tour with The Luxembourg Signal in 2017. In 2018, The BV’s released a single on Cloudberry Records, and later that year returned to the house in Cornwall where they met to record their second album, Cartography, which was released on KUS in 2019.
Jetstream Pony
Brighton/Croydon based Jetstream Pony come from a common love of schrammelig post punk and indie-pop. The band features Beth Arzy (Trembling Blue Stars/The Luxembourg Signal/Lightning in a Twilight Hour) on vocals, Shaun Charman (The Wedding Present/The Popguns/The Fireworks) on guitar, Kerry Boettcher (Turbocat) on bass and Sara Boyle on drums. The first 7″ single was recorded on an iPad, after being picked up by Ronny of Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten, who insisted on releasing the original versions. This was followed up last year by the first studio recordings, the Self Destruct Reality 12″ EP. Both singles received great reviews and radio play around the world, including BBC Radio 6 Music. Jetstream Pony are named after a retired racing greyhound, now called Jenna!
The Perfect English Weather
Perched on a melodic precipice at the frayed edges of indie-dom, The Perfect English Weather are a husband & wife duo from Brighton who started out in some band called The Popguns back in the late 80s. Forever adrift on the late evening airwaves of BBC 6 Music, their latest LP, “Don’t You Wanna Feel The Rain?”, is an album of adulthood, with songs shifting around themes of family, work, distance and loss of nature.
