Championed by Thurston Moore, 6Music, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Brooklyn Vegan, Big Joanie are a London-based Black feminist punk band who combine the melodic pop of sixties girl groups with the fury of nineties riot grrrl and post punk. After the release of their debut album ‘Sistahs’ in 2018, on Moore and Eva Prinz’s label The Daydream Library Series, the band went on a coveted run of support slots playing with Bikini Kill, Gossip, Sleater-Kinney, and Idles. With their second album, which is out on Kill Rock Stars in the US, the band are back to bring their unique brand of feminist punk to our stage.

“a powerful, radical feeling of hope” – The Guardianz

Fräulein

Fräulein is a Northern Irish / Dutch duo currently based out of SW London. Their debut EP ‘A Small Taste’ heard the duo throw down the gauntlet and solidify their early sound; cathartic 90’s flavoured alt rock influenced by the likes of The Breeders, PJ Harvey and Big Thief, whilst incorporating cavernous grooves and sharply observational lyrics.

With raucous shows supporting The Mysterines, Big Joanie and Nova Twins as well festival appearances at The Great Escape, Bearded Theory and Dot to Dot, the pair are already taking 2023 with storm as one of the most exciting new live acts on the circuit.

“The pair tap into early grunge sounds to fuse the crunch of hard rock with the illicit DIY thrill of punk” – CLASH

Pink Suits

Pink suits are a Queer Punk duo from Margate. Playing aggressive political punk music exploring sexuality, mental health, politics & protest

Riot Gulll is Folkestone’s ultimate feminist punk night, championing women & gender diverse-fronted bands across rock and punk, and Géraldine Zanaska, promoter for Riot Gulll, and will be sharing their playlist tonight.
