Pleased to welcome the return of Illinois rocker and new Bella Union signing Ezra Furman to Brighton after his show-stopping performance at the Haunt in late 2014!

Illinois’ Ezra Furman has had a slow but sure build in the consciousness of the music world, from his work with The Harpoons, to now an ever successful project with his band The Boyfriends, Furman has had an exhilarating couple of years.

His latest album ‘Perpetual Motion People’ released in the Summer of 2015 and his first on Bella Union, sees him continuing to harbour a charmingly unique lyrical voice.
Musically, Furman draws influence from Fifties skiffle and doo-wop to Sixties garage with the righteous mix of urchin charm, winning melody and caustic humour of Jonathan Richman and The Violent Femmes. Furman is a true original, equally tapping the godheads of power pop and country blues, with honking saxophone as much as a leader instrument as guitar.

The BBC 6 music much-loved musician is also an electrifying live performer, he combines a genuine mixture of outsider-angst and life-affirming energy, and gives nothing less than his whole body and soul to the cathartic moments of performance.

“Perpetual Motion People is the restless sound of a genuine one-off in a generic world. **** – The Guardian

“An enlightening journey through the mind of an outsider, but an entirely relatable one. 9/10 – Clash Music
