After filling the music press since 2008 with their universally acclaimed mercury prize nominated self-titled debut, NME award winning Glasvegas, have come along way from their beginnings in the East End of Glasgow.  However, with their second full release, EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\, the band prove that the spirit remains the same as the day Oasis Label Boss, Alan McGee, discovered “the most important Scottish band of all time”.

Heralded for their unique ability to capture a poetic social commentary of the contemporary age through their catalogue of hits, such as Daddy’s Gone and Geraldine, Glasvegas embarked on conquering the world with their trademark Phil Spector Wall-of-Sound Rock n’ Roll.

Their meteoric rise saw the band perform Stadium shows with U2, Oasis and Kings of Leon, however, after touring non stop for well over a year, Glasvegas, and especially vocalist/lyricist James Allan were in need of time out.

2010 saw the band set up camp in Santa Monica, where Allan was to pen the ambitious second record, building on trademark introspective themes such as love, longing, redemption and happiness but now also drawing inspiration from the surrounding ocean and neo-noir sci-fi classic Blade Runner.

The result: a stunning, spectral, indeed euphoric/heartbreaking soundscape of arcing ambition, as if David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ soundtrack was speeded up and re-imagined through the sonic dreams of Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, a formidably Gothic Pet Shop Boys and Brian Eno’s 2008 triumphs with Coldplay.

Coming off the back of their recent Arena tour, this is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the UK’s greatest acts in the stunning setting of the historic The Old Market.

Tickets go live at 9am on Friday 19th August 2011 from here!
