Lewes Psychedelic Festival presents:

Is Bliss

Portsmouth-based trio Is Bliss have already been making massive strides on the south-coast and London music scene. Gaining critical acclaim due to their original sound, 6music airplays and incendiary live performances on the increasingly growing new psychedelic gig circuit, they are a band to look out for. After successful support slots with the likes of Mark Gardener (Ride), Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) and The Jesus And Mary Chain, the band continue to make waves and turn heads.
The band have hooked up with label Club AC30 for a new EP, and it tightens their noise pop aesthetic still further. The hooks feel more defined, while the production applied renewed clarity with Is Bliss displaying continuing confidence in their sound. Reminiscent of those early Verve jams fused with Ride’s rock swagger, it’s a heady fuzzed out return.

“a massive, climactic wash of noise that’s equally as disorienting as it is epic.” – Mod Melody

“Is Bliss’ hazy textures are moulded into opiate delights. The Portsmouth based shoegazers create luscious soundscapes that consist of celestial synths and reverberated vocals that weave in out of their dreamy tapestry.” – Caught in the Crossfire

Air Formation

Air Formation formed in Brighton in 1998, playing shoegaze when shoegaze was still a dirty word. Influenced by the likes of Flying Saucer Attack, Spacemen 3 & Sigur Ros they set about creating their signature soaring melancholic soundscapes, backed by a driving rhythm section with soft understated vocals.

In early 2011 after the release of their highly acclaimed forth album ‘Nothing To Wish For (Nothing to Lose)’ the band parted ways, feeling the need to take a break and pursue other interests. When the call came in 2014 requesting the band play at a new Psych festival ‘Reverence’ in Valada, Portugal the band realised there was unfinished business and, after returning re-invigorated, they entered the studio with producer Pat Collier (Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, House of Love) .

‘Were We Ever Here’ EP was released in September 2015 and sold out in the first few days; the band had never sounded better. Closing track ‘The Wasted Days’ took the entire EP into another gear, shifting from kinetic drone-pop to expansive post-rock territory, bringing this record to a close in a shower of noise.

Air Formation are set to release their highly anticipated fifth LP in early 2018.

“undoubtedly one of this nation’s best kept secrets.” Drowned in Sound

“Air Formation remain ahead of, and apart from, the zeitgeist.” – Gigwise
