It’s with great excitement that we can announce an unmissable, super-intimate performance from Wild Beasts on July 14th at The Haunt!
Visiting our fair city for a special Latitude warm up show, the Cumbrian quartet look set to give us a real night to remember. As anyone who attended their sold out Concorde 2 last November will tell you the Domino-signed, Mercury Prize nominated outfit really come into their own live, particularly with material from their latest and greatest release ‘Smother’.
For anyone new to the band, their sound is a combination of delicate, intelligent percussion, elegant synths and finger-picked acoustic guitars, with leader Hayden Thorpe’s falsetto soaring and skylarking above it all like some Kendal-based Antony Hegarty.
Last time they were here tickets flew out incredibly quickly so you’ll have to move fast on this one – don’t miss this opportunity to catch one of our finest bands up close and personal, for one night only!
“They are, right now, the most inspirational, intriguing, effortlessly enrapturing band at work on these shores. And Smother might well prove to be the album of 2011.” BBC
“ Their third album ditches their old Associates/Roxy/Sparks guitar sound in favour of rolling grooves of electronica and percussion more akin to Antony and the Johnsons gone Talk Talk. Smother isn’t immediate, but gradually emerges to be a thing of extraordinary beauty, containing dreamlike adventures of lust and longing.” The Guardian
