2017 Summer Festivals
Festival season is now upon us, Festivals are a great way for us to discover new music and have a fun time in the process. Take a look below at some recommendations from the MV team, a top variety!

Anna Moulson (Owner)
Supersonic, Birmingham / June 16-18
I’ve never been to this festival nor Birmingham, but I have heard great things from this female-curated experimental happening. I am especially looking forward to seeing
Jenny Hval, a Norwegian electro-soundscape performer combining music, literature and visuals. She has very expressive performances that are quite captivating
Seachange, Totnes / August 25-26
I went to this last year, which was the first year of the festival and the first year for me in Devon; both beautiful and captivating. It all takes place in community halls and churches in the magical setting of Totnes (a more retired version of Brighton).
Amber Arcade are a fantastically fun pop band from Holland and alongside another dynamic act Orielles from my home town of Halifax will be playing the festival and I shall be right at the front dancing to both.

Helen Brown (Marketing and programming)
Visions, London / August 5
I always really enjoy the Bird on the Wire & Rockfeedback co-promoted festival. I missed it last year but I’m looking forward to coming back to it this year. Would love to see Jenny Hval, Blanck Mass, Frankie Cosmos and Goat Girl. And of course, the wonderful DOG SHOW they organise each year. There’s no festival without dogs.
Festival No. 6 / Sept 7-10
I may very well try and make this festival this year. Situated in a wonderful Italianate village in North Wales which sounds like a suitably idyllic setting for some music and arts. Would see: The Cinematic Orchestra, Honeyblood and Wild Beasts.

Rachel Wilson (Production)
Glastonbury, Pilton / June 21-25
As this will be my first time attending Glastonbury, definitely have to add it to this list! Looking forward to the overall experience; going to have a hard time choosing between so many great acts on at the same time but some acts I’ll definitely be checking out are Sampha, Thundercat, Goldfrapp, Angel Olsen, Maggie Rogers and of course Radiohead amongst others. And maybe a sneaky glance of Shaggy’s set..!
Green Man, Brecon Beacons / August 17-20
Green Man has been a festival I’ve wanted to attend for a while and if I were going this year, top of my list to see would be Gaelynn Lea, Nadia Reid, Jon Hopkins, Pumarosa, Michael Kiwanuka, PJ Harvey and Andy Shauf.

Jorge Mena (Distribution)
Supersonic, Birmingham / June 16-18
UK’s premier experimental music festival with Raime, Richard Dawson, Xylouris White, Laura Cannell, Jessica Moss, Ex-Easter Island Head and more.
Womad, Wiltshire / July 27-30
Old and new music from around the world including Ifriqiyya Electrique, King Ayisoba, Ariwo, Khmer Rouge Survivors, Meta Meta and more.

Anna Markowska (Intern)
OFF-Festival, Poland / August 4-6
It’s been been rated as one of the 10 best festivals by the Guardian and has received good reviews from Pitchfork too. Some MV artists are playing such as C Duncan which is great. I myself mostly want to see Thee Oh Sees, PJ Harvey, Swans and some polish artists like Pro8l3m, Spoiwo, Siksa.
Love Supreme Jazz Festival, Glynde / June 30 – July 2
I really want to see BADBADNOTGOOD the most!
