Record Store Day 2019

Time flies and it’s this time of the year again – Record Store Day! The day of rare records and in-store shows, the sign that spring is a real deal for every music enthusiast.

If you are lucky enough to live or visit our great town this Saturday, we want to guide you through the Brighton records path. There are five shops participating in the event this year and every each one is urging us with different entertainment.

Our dearest Bella Union Store hidden on Ship Street in South Lanes is inviting to special guest DJ sets, free coffee and donuts. Penelope Isles and Mr. Simon Raymonde will be working the till alongside Lucille, Josh and Katie. This year they are also having BC Camplight for a rare solo set in-store! But please don’t panic if you can’t make it – he’ll be back in November for a Melting Vinyl show at Komedia. Event info

Resident Brighton has once again pulled out all the stops, bringing you a jam-packed RSD, filled with vinyl, live music and prizes. Catch performances from The Leisure Society, Blood Red Shoes, Wrongtom, Our Girl and David Gedge. A fantastic selection of prizes to be won in their raffle, including 2 tickets to our show with The Unthanks and not to mention a great vinyl selection. These guys know how to do RSD, they’ll be kicking off at 8am until 10pm, someone buy this lot a beer afterwards. Event info

Cult Hero in Brighton Place having not taken part in RSD last year, is very eager to get going in 2019. While you have a browse through their better than ever spread of records, there will be also bar with homemade gin and rum, live performances and DJs. Event info

Rarekind Records on Trafalgar Street are taking over the upstairs of Patterns. They will be joined by a couple DJ’s and fellow vinyl lovers – DJ Format and Rob Life (Vinyl veterns / Breaking Bread) playing all things hip hop funk soul afro latin psych breaks and more. Event info

Whilst in the South Lanes, let’s not forget about Vinyl Revolution Store, also participating in this year’s Record Store Day. Event info

The Hope & Ruin will be hosting a listening party, playing their staff’s favourite albums in full, starting from 12pm. Event info

And finally, The White Rabbit pub will play host to a range of DJs throughout the day. Enjoy the sunshine with their outdoor area, a pint in hand, while treating your ears to some delightful tunes. You can even give your hand at spinning the fresh new vinyl you picked up on the day. Event info
