Summer Shows

Over the coming months, we’re looking forward to desert blues, intimate singer-songwriting, layered vocal drones, psych-folk, fuzzed-out pop melodies, dreamy vocal harmonies, synths and electronic percussion, and so much more.

Kicking off our summer shows the iconic Saharan rockers Tamikrest play a sold out show at Hope and Ruin on June 16th. They are inspired by the musical heritage of Tinariwen, and driven by the desire to amplify the oppressed voice of the Kel Tamasheq (Tuareg) people. Fusing their deep roots with the raw energy of the rock the bands style of psychedelic rock will send you into a hypnotic trance of melody and power.

Norwegian folk artist Juni Habel plays The Rose Hill on June 26th with support from REA. After a three year hiatus Habel returns with her now album ‘Evergreen In Your Mind” featuring delicate and patient songs that put Habel’s voice in the leading role. Her songs are odes to life and death, the beauty of belonging and human kinship with nature, for fans of Jessica Pratt, Nick Drake and Juila Jacklin. Habel will be joined by the Brighton based artist REA who creates alternative folk music in quiet outdoor spaces. Raised between the open fields and farmlands of rural Staffordshire, her music is deeply rooted in the natural world.

London-based composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Alison Cotton plays The Rose Hill on the 2nd of July. Emerging from UK underground bands including Saloon and The Left Outsides, Cotton began her solo career centering her music around the viola, harmonium, and layered vocal drones. Her music has received regular airplay on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music, as she continues to explore drone, experimental folk, and narrative forms, establishing herself as a singular voice in contemporary experimental music. On this tour she will be playing music from a new album and will be accompanied by Mark Nicholas on percussion, harmonium and synths.

We’re also busy planning our autumn season, so please look out for updates va our social channels.
