Melting Vinyl is really excited to present Ezra Furman who will be playing at the Green Door Store on 18th February!

After parting ways with the Harpoons (as Ezra Furman & the Harpoons), Ezra went solo and released his début album, The Year of No Returning, on Bar/None earlier this year. With no stop for rest, he then released his second album Day of the Dog last October; progressing from the dark chamber-pop and gorgeous balladry of his solo début into a stylish, techni-colour, pulse-quickening rock provocateur.

Day of the Dog was recorded with Ezra’s new touring band, The Boy-Friends, who have helped to bring the songs alive in the studio and on stage. Throughout the album, Ezra’s bold artistry and giant ambitions reflect on songwriting traditions of the past, however it is altogether skewed by an undercurrent of deranged and ragged glory, the kind you find in the conflicts of the soul!

Ezra’s first single from the album ‘My Zero’ showcases an 80’s rock tunefulness that is tastefully deconstructed and free from gloss. For Ezra it seems to be all about deconstruction and reinvention, where he is ready to throw himself on the pyre in search of the redemption that will follow. Watch him follow his adventure!
