Melting Vinyl is pleased to announce that Joan as Police Woman will be playing in Brighton in April.
Joan Wasser came to prominence after being asked by Rufus Wainwright in 2004 to join his band and to open the shows with her new musical moniker, Joan as Police Woman. In 2006, she released her debut album Real Life on Reveal Records which showcased her lyrical and musical musings on loss and heartbreak.
As a teenage violin prodigy, Joan has collaborated with an impressive amount of artists. She has been a member of Anthony & The Johnsons; composed string arrangements for Scissor Sisters; and played violin for Nick Cave and Lou Reed. Her own musical project has showcased her classical abilities, using it as a foundation for developing pop styles which has propelled her into the indie rock sphere.
After Real Life, Joan continued to tour and release albums, all received with critical acclaim. The latest album Deep Field continued to showcase Joan’s lyrical wit and musical diversity but with a more optimistic edge, indicating her versatility and ability to display and channel different kinds of emotions in her music writing.
Joan is due to release her new album in early 2014 before her tour kicks off. Keep an eye out for the album and make sure to come along to the show!
