We are teaming up with esteemed local venue The Rose Hill to bring you this very special gig.

“Superb. Sitting on the altar steps with a synth, her fabulously expressive vocals colour sparse, pensive compositions.” THE WIRE

Radio Hito is the stage name of Nguyễn Zen Mỹ, an Italo-Vietnamese artist based in Brussels.
We had not come across her before, but listening through her live performances sent by her agent, we just had to book her – there is an elegance and poise to her beautiful compositions. Classically trained, she sings stunning minimalist songs over addictively hypnotic synth patterns (no loops). It’s really powerful and unique!

Trained as a classical pianist and with an initial background in art printing, she did her master’s at Central Saint Martins, specialising in typography (visualising language), type design and editorial practices. She composes and questions language and its limits, notably through writing, publishing, singing and performing.

As Radio Hito, she has gained recognition in recent years for her minimalist yet powerful performances at festivals and venues across Europe. Her last two albums are on Midi Fish and Kraak Records in Belgium. With her next album to be released by Maple Death Records & Meakusma, based on the book l’Usage et les attributs du cœur by French poet Claude Royet-Journoud, she continues to question the enigma and limits of language – both poetic and musical.

Since 2012, she has been a full Professor at the Academy of Arts in Strasbourg, France (HEAR Strasbourg), where she co-founded the Graphic Languages Master program and a common program with the University of the Arts Strasbourg. In 2022, she also joined the team at the historical French publishing house Editions Corti dedicated to poetry & literature and runs the poetic imprint & production label DSCRD.

Radio Hito is an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art, co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia.

R Elizabeth is the side project of artist and composer Rachael Finney. Where her creative and academic practice examines histories and cultures of popular music, recording technologies and practices of production R Elizabeth sees the artist exploring her interest in magnetic tape from a different point of entry. Working somewhere between experimental electronics and pop music R Elizabeth often creates melodic hooks via a combination of tape collage and repetitive organ, layering low placed vocals that aim to present a continuous chorus. Working with a host of reel to reel machines and live splicing, R Elizabeth explores both the compositional potential of tape and the performance potential of the players themselves.

DJ Evey ~
Eveys tracks have received airplay on Stuart Maconie’s Freakzone on BBC6 Music, and his last album was in Electronic Sound Magaizine’s top 60 albums of the year. He runs the Brighton based electronic label and collective Patchworks, and has his own monthly radio show on Slack City Radio with Chloe D, called Motor Skills playing motorik, krautrock, coldwave and all manner of electronic and experimental music.
