Following a hugely successful run of shows, Steve Knightley and the Winter Yards Band return in Autumn 2026. Best known as the co-founder of the revered folk phenomenon Show of Hands.
Steve Knightley’s latest work blends poetic songwriting with a cinematic acoustic sound; the band’s ‘folk noir’ style has won over audiences across the UK.
Featuring David Delarre, John Parker and Evan Carson, the show combines songs from the Winter Yards album with powerful
new material written on the road – stories of landscape, community and the changing world around us.

Steve Knightley, a highly acclaimed and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and musician, occupies a prominent position in the folk/acoustic and roots music scene.

Quotes from the band:
David Delarre (guitar) “Steve’s songs create a landscape, and the band gets to colour it in. It’s a really exciting way to play.”

John Parker (double bass) “There’s a real cinematic quality to the music. It can be very intimate one minute and then suddenly open out into something much bigger.”

Evan Carson (percussion) “What I love about this band is the freedom. We’re not just accompanying the songs — we’re shaping the atmosphere of them.”

Steve “With the Winter Yards Band, the songs seem to breathe differently – there’s space, atmosphere and a real sense of discovery every night.”

Quotes from elsewhere:
“Some of the best songs written in the last twenty years” — Mark Radcliffe, 6Music
“The gravel-voiced spokesman of the rural poor” — Robin Denselow, The Guardian
“One of the Great English Bands” – Peter Gabriel
