Ba De Da.. Dancing In September..

Can you believe that September is just around the corner!? Neither can we! Are you sad that summer is almost over? Well DON’T BE! We have 4 fantastic shows lined up for you so frowns turned upside down please!

On the 11th we bring you Husky, an Australian quartet on Sub Pop who share a passion for classic sounds, rich harmonies, and artful songwriting points back to the artists they grew up on: Crosby Stills & Nash, Bob Dylan, The Doors to name a few. Their debut album has been on non stop at Melting Vinyl HQ. With its warm, acoustic timbres and carefully crafted songs,Forever So’ is the sound of a band that from its inception cared more about making one sublime album than acquiring a million followers on Twitter. catch them at The Hope for a truly intimate experience.

On the 23rd we have ‘the finest songwriter of his generation’ hailed by the late, great John Peel; James Yorkston comes to town! There’s lots of reasons why we’re excited about this, one of them being because his new record which is out on Domino now, is named ‘I Was A Cat From A Book‘, something that cat lovers have found very excited (trust us, we know a few..) Not only that, James has a book out, ‘It’s Lovely To Be Here’ – The Touring Diaries of a Scottish Gent’, who maps out the realities of life on the road and shows how touring is far less than glamourous as others see it. We’re bound to hear a few of his tales at his Brighton Ballroom show on the 23rd.

Just two days later we bring you another – yes ANOTHER – band on Sub Pop, the energetic and exciting Jaill come and visit at The Green Door Store! Their new album ‘Traps’, which is available now, has been described as ‘it’s pretty, it’s moody, it pops’ and has been the talk of the Sub Pop town since it’s release, and another big play at Melting Vinyl HQ. Lots of lovely ‘Traps’ things are available here and tickets are available here!

Can you remember back in May when The Great Escape had taken over Brighton and we had all that incredible live music right at our finger tips? Well last but certainly not least, we have one of the most talked about acts at this years festival returning to Melting Vinyl for a second time, it’s the one and only Beth Jeans Houghton And The Hooves Of Destiny! If her biography is to be believed, Beth Jeans Houghton was born in Transylvania to a pack of albino wolves, who raised her on chewing tobacco and stuffed clams, and anyone who caught her performance here last September can testify to what a frightening talent Beth Jeans Houghton is! If, on the other hand, you’ve never seen Houghton and her Hooves before, expect the unexpected: her performances are always different, always unpredictable and always wildly entertaining. Even Clash has told us that ‘Beth will steal your hearts‘ and we can agree. Massively. These ones are going fast so don’t miss out, click here and grab yours while you still can.

So, still sad that summer’s almost over? We hope not. We’ve got enough there to keep you going through September, and even more for October…
