Melting Vinyl fall silent with humility to the immersive sound of A Winged Victory for the Sullen this coming October.

Bound together by curious friendship, Adam Witltzie, best known for the drone-based, ambient band Stars of the Lid, and master piantist Dustin O’Halloran, create what can only be described as a beautiful modern-classical experience. They have collaborated since 2011, with a self-titled LP, and have a new album set for release this year, described by one of their two current labels, Erased Tapes, as ‘the future of the late night record you have always dreamed of’ – St. Georges Church is the perfect live setting for this Brussels-based duo.

And boy, do we expect grand things.

Recorded mostly in their home city, but also Reykjavik, over the summer of 2013, A Winged Victory for The Sullen’s forthcoming album ATOMOS (also coupling as the score for choreographer Wayne McGregor’s dance-piece) has already left critics dizzy with excitement. It only takes one listen of their ‘teaser’ EP, ATOMOS VII to empathise.

With that in mind, the Melting Vinyl office and hopefully you shall be counting down the days unti October the 17th.

“A Winged Victory’s music, more active than drone and thicker than minimalism, captures movement and freezes it.” – Pitchfork

“Intense, reflective, occasionally threatening and wholly enveloping.” ***** – The Times
