Dog In The Snow presents a Christmas special with…
BERNARD + EDITH

New Bella Union trip-hop dreamy Mancunian duo – Bernand + Edith – come to Brighton to play a special Melting Vinyl Christmas night co-curated with Dog In The Snow.

During the past year, Bernard + Edith have been bubbling in the Manchester music scene with their dark, subtly disturbing, dreamy electronica. Their debut album ‘Jem’ (released via Bella Union) showcases a rich landscape with a strange allure, a sound that not only is aurally satisfying, but also visually intensifying. They discover an inventive spread of colour and texture in the world of electronic pop.

Bernand + Edith’s unconventional approach starts with using their middles for a band name, which evokes the image of an older couple rather than a pair in their earliy twenties who instantly bonded over music after meeting as teenagers. Theirs is a true collaboration, jointly creating the music and beats (their videos and stage projections too), bringing e different influences to the union but meshing them to sublime effect.

The album is a mult-faceted jewel, from the lush Cocteau’s-shiver of ‘Crocodiles’ to the exquisite Eastern climes of ‘China’ and the R&B twist of ‘Poppy’. What unites all 13 tracks is a beguiling fusion of intimacy and sensuality with something more mysterious and spectral.

Having been on the festival circuit (End of the Road, Field Day, BBC 6 Music Festival), supporting the likes of Tune-Yards and Jungle, Bernard + Edith have brought their carefully crafted sonic world out into the open arms of audience; creating live shows not to be missed.

“Subtly disturbing, and deceptively pretty, trip hop blues from the backstreets of Manchester.” – The Guardian

“Bernard + Edith have crafted their own universe, separate to anything around them. ” – Clash Magazine
