Melting Vinyl presents:

CLOWwNs

+ MDK – mumdadandthekids

Melting Vinyl are stoked to be bringing you C L O Ww N S at The Hope & Ruin.

Groucho Marx once said “Clowns work as well as aspirin, but twice as fast” and all the world loves a clown right? Especially when they teeter atop a post-punk avant-pop tightrope of angular riffs, driving beats and lyrics which seem spewed forth from modernist authors of dissent.

Helmed by songwriting team Andrew Claridge (guitar) and Miles Heathfield (Vocal) with backing from Etienne Rodes (Bass), Damo Waters (Drums) C L O Ww N S have conjured up a host of comparisons from early Adam and the Ants to John Cale to 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, and invokes indie-avant-post-punk giants The Cardiacs and The Cravats.

Come on down and be a C L O Ww N.

“Combining literary lyricism with equal opportunities rabble-rousing, anthemic melodies and pounding riffs, Clowwns songs are glorious Trojan horses… Some of the best and brightest pop-rock guitar music of recent years.” THE QUIETUS

‘A strange & wonderful Art-Punk-Glam band from Brighton, CLOWwNS are possibly the best band in the UK’ – Louder Than War

“Without a doubt one of Brighton’s finest live bands… They rock like one mean bastard.” Brighton Source
MDK aka mumdadandthekids
After an 18 month hiatus, shape-shifting art-rock glam-poppers mumdadandthekids or ‘MDK’ return to the live scene with a much coveted support slot for C L O W w N S.
Known for their explosive live shows, with sparkling powerhouse songs and the enigmatic Tim Harbridge at the helm, MDK has  been described as  ‘a sexy swaggering mix of Big Star and Ziggy Stardust’ (Source). What more could you ask for the perfect foil to the incredible C L O W w N S!
“One of Brighton’s most devastating live bands” – Brighton Source (Jan 2020)
