Melting Vinyl & Dictionary Pudding presents

We are excited to welcome back Cardiff-born, LA-based psych-folk-pop singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, along with a new album announcement ‘Crab Day’ out via Turnstile (UK) and Drag City (US).

Having started her career on Gruff Rhys’s Irony Bored label, Cate has gone on to tour and collaborate with artists as acclaimed and diverse as Rhys himself, St Vincent, Neon Neon, Manic Street Preachers, White Fence and Perfume Genius. Now living in LA, new album ‘Crab Day’ came to light at ‘the mouth of the Pacific Ocean’, songs that came together fueled and furnished by the west-coast environment. A coalition of inescapable feelings and fabrications, each propping the other up.

Cate matches her slightly spooky, fragile voice and dark lyrics (death-fixated she puts it as) with sparse, spindly guitar sounds. She creates wonderfully weird, accomplished pop; woozily melodic, dreamily confident and wrapped in a psychedelic haze.

“a vitalised imagination–a rewarding listen, and then some.” – Clash Music ****

“This is music that hovers at the edges of modern life, out of time but in its own glorious world” – Q Magazine
