The new incarnation of Beth Jeans Houghton – Du Blonde – returns and showcases a fiercer, heavier rock sound; a departure from her initial baroque pop sound.

Beth Jeans Houghton returns from her last sold out Haunt show, with a new sound and new project – Du Blonde – a new incarnation and one step closer to assuming her ultimate form. Having freed herself from the rusty and bloody shackles of Beth Jeans Houghton, her new album (out on MUTE) is a fresh start and a big change in musical direction.

Whilst her 2012 album Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose was a standalone piece of polymath pop, 25-year-old Houghton, has constantly evolved and reinvented herself – a musical and aesthetic chameleon always playing by her own rules. Her new sound is thunderous, with rumbling bass, heavy guitars and vocal that burns with visceral rage. There are a fewer, quieter moments, Du Blonde is instead out to slay.

“she’s swapped psych-folk for the sound of a load of cymbals being knocked over in a sticky-floored rock club.” – The Guardian
