‘He’s the real thing.’ – Folk Radio

The critically acclaimed Southern Gothic singer/songwriter returns!

Jim White never set out to be a “professional musician” however after a friend handed his
cassette tape to David Byrne, everything changed. Byrne promptly signed White to a six record deal and twenty five years he’s still here.

Now White releases his own critically acclaimed solo albums, produces records for other songwriters, exhibits his visual art in galleries and museums across the US and Europe and publishes award winning fiction.

His sixth solo studio album, the bizarrely titled Waffles, Triangles & Jesus, is a mind-bending joy ride of sonic influences featuring a bevy of his hometown Athens’ roots musicians, plus west coast indie darlings Dead Rock West, and rock and roll maverick Holly Golightly.

Known as an American artist but playing what ‘the voices in his head’ tell him, his material runs the gamut from bonafide sad-sack Americana to experimental noir-jazz, from deep fried southern rock to quasi-classical etudes, from primitive white gospel laments to trailer park hick-hop, and a whole bunch more. As can been seen on five eclectic, totally uncategorizable albums plus another six even stranger side projects.

Numerous songs from his back catalogue have appeared both in film and television, with his Primus-esque Word-Mule being featured in Breaking Bad, and more recently his cautionary rocker Crash Into The Sun appearing in Ray McKinnon’s highly praised Sundance Channel series Rectify.

UK fans may recognize White as the narrator and defacto tour guide for the award winning BBC documentary, Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus, a road movie set in the rural South, which the LA Times described as “Decidedly strange, delightfully demented.”

After being released from major label constrains, his latest self-release, ‘circus ride’ Misfit’s Jubilee  lacked a following tour due to COVID restrictions, White used the time to continue to write, resulting in his debut
novel, Incidental Contact, which will be released in the UK in late May 2022, in conjunction with this upcoming tour.

‘Give Misfits Jubilee a listen and allow yourself to be carried along the road less travelled. It will be a journey that lingers in your mind long after the music stops.’ – On Magazine

Karl Bray:

Karl releases his first 10 track solo album Rainbows this summer. The album was mainly recorded live in a small studio in Brighton which began in earnest over four years ago. When Covid hit, Karl put the album on hold but his inspiration returned whilst working at Nick Cave’s house. ‘Hearing Nick writing on his beautiful grand piano whilst upstairs working I just thought I’ve absolutely nothing to lose, Nick is such a friendly, funny, positive & creative person it just gave me the inspiration to complete what I’d begun’.

Album single Ain’t Got Time was picked up by BBC’s Keith Greentree for his Big Country Show and BBC’s Folkscene with Mike Brocken along with airplay on the legendary Radio Caroline. Second single The Hand That Holds My Heart saw further airplay on London’s Soho Radio. Karl recently recorded for one of Bob Harris’s Under the Apple Tree sessions, performing stand alone single San Francisco for the legendary broadcaster. The video for San Francisco & the Rainbows album track were a joint collaboration with Mercury Music Prize Nominee Ian Parton (The Go! Team).

Previously, Karl was the founding member with electro rock outfit Kovak who were playlisted on BBC Radio 2. The band were featured many times on Los Angeles station KROQ Kovak’s music has been produced & remixed by respected producers including Youth (Killing Joke, Paul McCartney), Andy Gray (Paul Oakenfold, Tori Amos) and The Orb’s Andy Hughes. Karl has toured with The Levellers & supported such acts as Toyah Wilcox, Gomez, Finley Quaye & Hard Fi.
