In celebration of their 4th album release ‘ False Lankum’ out March 2023 via Rough Trade Records, Irish folk quartet LANKUM will be joining Melting Vinyl for this very special headline show.
Descending from the Irish capital city of Dublin, Lankum are a contemporary folk quartet who remain loyal to the traditional ideals of the genre whilst also embracing the modern and the unexplored. Despite being heavily in touch with their musical and ancestral roots, Lankum is an artistic entity which explores alternative stylistic elements through their use of traditional instrumentation and compositional structures, indulging in musical components commonly found in genres such as more modernised Indie-folk, neofolk, Drone/Noise, Slowcore, and Experimental.
Lankum’s sound is highly intriguing, beautiful, and at times very unsettling being built upon the foundations of traditional Irish folk vocals, haunting string arrangements, powerfully reverberant percussion, and creaking guitars amongst many others. This quartet uses music to create emotional scenes which are strange, intense, uplifting, and excitingly refreshing for a roots genre, making Lankum a virtuosic group within the experimental contemporary.
