Brighton based Lucy Feliz brings her sophomore album “Last of The Sun” to its home town, with her new five piece band. Released on Scottish label OK Pal Records (during the 2020 live music hiatus, triggered by the pandemic), tracks were featured on 6 Music and BBC Music Introducing Mixes, picking up press momentum along the way.

“A fantastic return, an immersive journey that is so potent, and so suggestive. Recalling everyone from Asobi Seksu to elements of Angel Olsen, her work has a gripping sense of directness to it, shrouded in opaque mystery” – Clash Magazine

The immersive collection of songs were recorded in New Zealand’s Sitting Room with award-winning producer Ben Edwards (Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin, Nadia Reid, Aldous Harding). Saturated with a dream-like quality, it allows the listener to lose themselves in the ethereal realm, with psychedelic guitars and ghostly ivories. We see the attention shift away from the realism of personal histories to a more fluid terrain. For Feliz, ‘Last Of The Sun’ is a mystic affair that conjures skipping school on the first warm day of summer to practice astral projection in a teenage bedroom, determined to transcend the day-to-day by any means necessary.

“While there’s an ethereal mood to Feliz’s work, here it certainly feels kinda magic!” – Secret Meeting Blog

With new releases due in 2022, there will be more to hear from Lucy Feliz very soon!

Winter Gardens

As the evening’s main support we have Winter Gardens Taking influence from 80’s post-punk, 4AD & Creation-era bands, Winter Gardens have developed their own ‘dream-punk’ sound, with all the ethereal haze of shoegaze & dream-pop combined with the energy of punk. Utilising drum loops, synthesizers, pianos & pads with the accompaniment of Ananda Howard’s celestial vocals, the band take the listener on a journey through an eclectic ray of disparate sounds – cascading jangly tones, thick Juno Synths, elegant keys, serene vocals & a pulsing groove glued together with a tempestuous energy. Think song-writing that pays homage to the soundscapes of Slowdive, the howling harmonies of Kate Bush, the pulse of Stereolab & the indie-dance feel of New Order.

Lando

As the evening’s opening support we have Lando. Lando Manning is a 24-year old, Brighton-based, dream folk singer/ songwriter. Drawing from a wide range of influences, from early 70s acid folk (Mark Fry, Tyrannosaurus Rex)  to 90s shoegaze (Duster) , Lando has been able to create his own unique lo-fi psychedelic folk sound.
