Astles & the Balloon Moon Orchestra is a fantastic musical collective gloriously led by Liverpool based singer-songwriter/artist Astles, who’s songwriting celebrates the refuge of music to a young lad in the North West, surrounded by football-focussed men and machismo — to which his music is the perfect antidote.
Astles’ sound with great execution, treads many stylistic lines borrowing nuances from popular jazz, indie-rock, and alternative-folk, creating powerful songs which perfectly satisfy one’s soul. Dramatic intensity is Astles’ game, a strength he provides effortlessly through his diverse vocal capabilities, use of instrumental dynamics, and delicate songwriting themes. Whilst Astles is an original artist in his own right, he isn’t afraid to give us a flavour of past popular music, matching the impact of heritage acts such as Frank Sinatra and Lou Reed.
“Gorgeous, lilting indie.” – NME
“With a full band behind him, Astles showcases the live credibility of his songwriting- it’s a joy to behold. The set starts with just the perfect mix of slacker beats with thunderous guitar complimenting things.” – Get Into This
Lucy Feliz
One of Brighton’s most exciting singer-songwriters currently, Feliz’s sound beautifully combines the realms of dream pop, psychedelic pop, indie-rock, and indie-folk making her a modern day queen of the alternative.
“A fantastic return, an immersive journey that is so potent, and so suggestive. Recalling everyone from Asobi Seksu to elements of Angel Olsen, her work has a gripping sense of directness to it, shrouded in opaque mystery” – Clash Magazine
The Roebucks
Despite this indie-quartet being a relatively young act to Brighton’s vibrant music scene, they have still made a strong first impression due to their ability of blending indie-rock influences with hints of americana, heartland rock, and alt-folk! This four piece write artistic indie tunes which are both melancholic and strangely uplifting.
