Yama Warashi:

Anglo-Japanese psych inspired by Japanese folk dance, free jazz and tribal African music, Yama Warashi is the artistic creation of Yoshino Shigihara(Zun Zun Egui). Set to release her 3rd record ‘Crispy Moon’ via Prah Records in 2022. Recorded by Capitol K(Thurston Moore, Comet is Coming, Dry Cleaning) at the Total Refreshment Centre.  2021 saw her and band tour with friends Vanishing Twin, in 2022 she will embark on her own UK and European tour.

Yama Warashi have received plays on BBC6 music (from DJ’s such as Cerrys Matthews and Tom Ravenscroft), NTS as well as hosting her own Freakzone show with Stuart MaConie and Camp Radio in Switzerland.‘ Blending free jazz, Japanese Folk and psych rock, Yama Warashi’s music evokes images of the coming of Spring’ –  Heard of Hearing Music

ChopChop play eclectic songs that veer from super-bumping agit-funk to angular jazz-punk and beyond. Led by the gesticulations Galician performance artist Xelís de Toro, the band whip up a tense and exciting brew of sounds live, and have been described as “a fantastic life affirming noise” by BBC Radio 6 Music.

“CHOPCHOP’s music snakes round its orator like a slippery thing, cymbals replaced by the clatter of hubcaps on toms, cutlery-jammed guitars – there’s an itchy jazzy vibe to the melodics, fuelled by a fertile imagination full of bruised shapes and punkish angles.” – FREQ
