This New Zealand collective Orchestra of Spheres uses home-made and formal instruments to create a hybrid music from numerous global traditions. They will be bringing to Brighton their fantastic and unique musical cornucopia.

The Orchestra of Spheres is a wide-ranging quartet from Wellington, New Zealand whose music is a hybrid of global sounds and cultures, from disco and electro to kuduro and mbalax, from neo psych to no wave, from koscmiche to prog, on instruments both formal and homemade!

Made up of Baba Rossa (biscuit tin guitar, sexomouse marimba), E = MC303 (electric carillon), Jemi Hemi Mandala (drums), and Mos Iocoss (keyboards and gamelan); the group formed in the early, heady days of Wellington’s artist collective, the Frederick Street Sound and Light Exploration Society, in 2009.

Their self-released debut EP, Space Art Music, appeared that same year, followed by the full-length Nonagonic Now in late 2010. The Bad Spheres single appeared in March of 2011, and the Numbers EP in June. Meanwhile, the U.K.’s Fire Records signed the group and re-released Nonagonic Now later in the year. An+ intense and prolonged period of touring and recording ensued, resulting in the Fire release of Vibration Animal Sex Brain Music in December of 2013.

INWARDS
A childlike sound-world hides a slightly unnerving, psychedelic undertone, simultaneously pleasing restless feet and hazy minds.

WAX MACHINE
Pure psychedelic rockers with a love for the 60s, alongside a contemporary and experimental approach to the hazy, lo-fi sounds of psychedelia.
