Melting Vinyl is excited to announce New York’s indie art rockers Ravens & Chimes to The Hope this November!

Ravens & Chimes are five New York art school kids who recorded their debut album Reichenbach Falls in 2006 and 2007 with Howard Bilerman (The Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Vic Chesnutt, Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and Brian Paulson (Beck, Slint, Superchunk).

You have your whole lifetime to make your first album, but as the band found, it’s making the second that feels like one. Frustration and exhaustion led to lineup changes and fitful songwriting after a long stint on the road, but a new song, “Carousel” – originally penned for submission to “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack — opened the floodgates again.

The result is Holiday Life, an album pulsing with triumphant energy, though its influences remain evocative: frontman Asher Lack, the son of NYC painter Stephen Lack, spent his bright- eyed youth mingling with Basquiat and Ginsberg, later interning for Wes Anderson during his NYU years as Ravens began to take shape.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see this exciting band play in such intimate surroundings, tickets on sale now!

“Big-hearted, indie rock balladry” New York Post

“Reichenbach Falls” (the bands 2007 debut) has garnered comparisons to The Arcade Fire with its blend of bombast and impassioned lyricism.” L.A. Times

“…singer-songwriter Asher Lack has a fine sense of Dynamics. Such songs as January which breathlessly recount an erotic encounter, balance their ornate crescendos with simpler, more direct passages.” The Washington Post
