London-based producer Ryan Lee West (from label Erased Tapes including Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds), makes atmospheric, electronic music under his moniker Rival Consoles; spanning a wide spectrum of musical ideas. After a packed and much anticipated The Great Escape set earlier this year at St. George’s Church, the young pioneering artist returns with his audio-visual extravaganza.

London-based producer Ryan Lee West is notable for making synthesisers sound human and atmospheric. With the release of ‘Odyssey’ (2013) and ‘Sonne’ (2014) under his Rival Consoles moniker, West has gained a reputation for making thoughtful electronica that spans a wide spectrum of musical ideas. Continuing on from his ‘Odyssey’ EP, ‘Sonne’ is all about atmosphere and space whilst exploring waves of sound and rhythm, and the power of colour. Ryan’s aim was to create music to structure itself around a pulse, rather than the pulse being the defining point.

Fascinated by sound from an early age, Ryan chose to dedicate his time to studying, experimenting with and producing sound graduating from De Montfort University in Leicester. West often composes early ideas on piano, violin and guitar, although the end result is much more electronic-laden. As an accomplished sound designer he has repeatedly performed at the Tate, and recently created a bespoke audio-visual performance for Boiler Room at the V&A. Ryan has also produced remixes for New York based composer Nico Muhly and UK producer Jon Hopkins, and composes original music for dance, film and television.

‘Delicate, otherworldly, awesome’ – UNDER THE RADAR

‘Odyssey is the perfect minimal, computerised counterpart to a Nils Frahm or an Ólafur Arnalds; all of the heart, soul and history, just played out in a different way’ (8/10) – THE 405

Born in the North East of England and residing in Brighton UK, bitbin (aka Matthew Hodson) brings music from the UK’s electronic underbelly. “His sound instantly recalls some of the classic Skam output, from the atmospheric chord changes you might expect to hear from Boards Of Canada’s bank of synths to Bola’s sinewy beats” – Boomkat.
