As part of the Ropetackle’s monthly Arts Portal, the centre is very pleased to welcome Melting Vinyl’s founder Anna Moulson to discuss the fundamentals of event promotion and management.

Space is limited to advance booking is advisable.

Melting Vinyl is a truly independent promotions company based in Brighton who are very much inspired by the creative, buzzing sunny shores. Anna and her team are committed to bringing you quality local, national and international artists in venues that range from intimate and unusual spaces, such as cinemas and churches to Brighton Dome’s Concert Hall.

This session will be useful for artists and new promoters faced with the challenge of creating a gig for the first time, or those that want to polish up on their skills. The workshop will provide an understanding of choosing the right venue at the right time, setting up tickets to sell in advance, marketing and planning out the show. We’ll look at how to avoid the pit falls in live event and how to creating a successful show. Part of the time will involve an interactive workshop and there will be a useful hand out to take away.

Anna Moulson works as a freelance live music promoter in various venues in Brighton and Kent and also teaches event management at the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) in Brighton.

Ropetackle Arts Portal: opening the door to professional practice in the arts.

Taking place on the third Saturday of each month, these professional development sessions will introduce key skills and working practices across a wide range of disciplines within the arts. The Portal will also provide an excellent opportunity to connect with a wide range of creative professionals.

Subjects lined up include: marketing, music publishing, songwriting, singing, event management, sound engineering, funding, business management, and music law.
