The Kendal/Leeds-based much-loved band, Wild Beasts play a very exclusive south-coast 2-day residency at Brighton’s The Old Market. Their afro-beat and rockabilly infused ’00s post-punk lent circus surrealism is led by Hayden Thorpe’s rich falsetto and refreshingly arcane lyrics. Their return marks the announcement of their new album Boy King, their most personal and direct to date, with a dark and apocalyptic take on the human psyche.
Wild Beasts released their first debut single “Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants” in 2006 and has gone onto release four critically acclaimed albums, “Limbo, Panto”, “Two Dancers” (nominated for Mercury Prize), “Smoother” and “Present Tense.”
After a period of intense touring, the band-members announced a break so they could concentrate on recording their fourth album, Present Tense, released in early 2014. The passion for creating a highly original sound is reflected in the band’s output, with the album nominated for an Ivor Novello Award which acknowledged the exceptional song-writing and consistency.
This year they return with their new album Boy King, an apocalyptic album, and a marked change from the optimistic aesthetics of their previous album. Wild Beasts’ ever-present knack for sensual melody via Thorpe and Fleming’s duetting vocals, Little’s sinuous guitar groove and Talbot’s potent rhythm section carries in Boy King an aggressive, snarling and priapic beast that delves into the darker side of masculinity and Thorpe’s own psyche.
“The distinctive sound of Wild Beasts—the dueling voices of Hayden Thorpe and Tom Fleming, a sleek and supple rhythm section, immaculate production—remains on the new Present Tense” Pitchfork
“British pop’s most refreshing triumphs” The Guardian
“If it’s possible to distil all that’s great about ‘Present Tense’ into just one song, though, it’s ‘A Simple Beautiful Truth’ ” NME

A new Reykjavik based duo, members of the band Tunng and gentlemen of the sea, THROWS call home a studio that overlooks the old industrial harbour. Inspired by life on the ocean and the flow of the winding back streets, crowded bars and bustling fisherman cafes of Iceland’s capital. The two can often be found frequenting the less salubrious places of town – drinking, laughing and dancing like madmen on moonshine until the early morning, where upon they return to their studio. Whilst watching the sunrise over the water through the big open window overlooking the Harbour, the music flows out of them like the waves hitting the shoreline as synths, old guitars and an old battered off-key piano are all they need to take their otherworldly pop wherever the wind may take them.
