Domino’s Mercury Prize nominees, Wild Beasts, return to Brighton in support of their highly anticipated new album, Smother.
The Cumbrian quartet combine delicate, intelligent percussion, elegant synths and finger-picked acoustic guitars, with leader Hayden Thorpe’s falsetto soaring and skylarking above it all like some Kendal-based Antony Hegarty.
The follow up to 2009’s hugely successful, Two Dancers, was fittingly recorded in the eerie setting of Snowdonia which transcends their haunting intimate sound, and has been compared to the likes of Talk Talk.
“They are, right now, the most inspirational, intriguing, effortlessly enrapturing band at work on these shores. And Smother might well prove to be the album of 2011.” BBC.
