Dark Dark Dark are an American folk band based out of  Minneapolis, USA and we are thrilled to welcome them back to Brighton in July!

With listeners everywhere having a very emotional response to Dark Dark Dark’s music,  being ambitious and layered, it reminds us to seek out the wonder and magic that surrounds us all the time.

Their sound sets Nona Marie Invie’s soaring, haunted voice against an array of traditional instruments, balancing folk and high-art, creating music that is making people crazy. Their music has also featured on Greys Anatomy and Skins.

The 10-song collection album is a marked evolution for the group, which began in 2006 as a collaboration between Minneapolis based musicians Nona Marie Invie and Marshall LaCount. These two songwriters bring together disparate influences including minimalism, New Orleans jazz, Americana, Eastern European folk, and pop. Using  stark contrast in texture, tone and imagery, the band has expanded and redefined their sound for the new album.

Who Needs Who, the new album by Dark Dark Dark, is a stirring and rich body of songs that sees the band breaking ground, and settling into the strengths of a quintet that has worked incredibly hard, both on the road and in their personal lives. The band’s commitment to their music has proven to be a double-edged sword.

“Dark Dark Dark rue accomplishment here is how they mix sounds and influences so effortlessly. They comprise a tight, intuitive unit, especially when the instruments swirl together into an otherworldly eddy of sound”. Pitchfork
