After last year’s sell-out, Lewes Psychedelic Festival returns with visuals and music for the senses, in the ancient setting of Lewes and the stunning All Saints Centre.

The Lucid Dream

[CAPTION]

The Lucid Dream first caught our attention with a stunning performance at Liverpool in 2013. Since then, the band have gone from strength to strength. With expansive blissed out sonic guitar sounds with elements of dub and jazz. Definitely for fans of Spiritualized. We are very excited to have them playing at Lewes.

Sculpture

sculpture

Sculpture is an audio-visual phantasmagoria made up of Dan Hayhurst (music), and Reuben Sutherland (animation). They work deep within a psychedelic palette, continuing to explore its sensorial intricacies. Performance is central to their work, and feeds back into all aspects of the process. Sculpture’s output includes music, film and video work, and multi-sensory live shows. After witnessing mind-bending sets from them at Breaking Convention and Fort Process, we are very pleased to have them play at Lewes Psych Fest.

Fever Dream

fever-dream-01

These shoegaze psychers are the youth of the festival, originally residing in Brighton and now in London. Fever Dream play dark, fuzzy, menacing music that blurs the line from noisy shoegaze to angular post-punk. Intense, melodic and expansive, they are a real treat live and have really good hair.

Flamingods

flamingods

Having seen them captivate live at the The Hope and Ruin, The Great Escape, End Of The Road and Liverpool Festival of Psychedelia, we had to have these purveyors of exotic psych with Eastern and African flavours. There’s something ancient and spiritual about their music and a humbleness about their presence.
We defy you to keep still during their performance!

Dead Rabbits

With sonic guitar waves and vocals, Dead Rabbits reverberate your senses and have been hailed as an incredibly great band live (Time out). Having come from good psych pedigree of Fuzz club records and recently been on tour with The Warlocks, we welcome their live set.

Eva Bowan

ebspectrum-sept-14

Originally from Poland but now residing in Brighton, Eva Bowan performs analogue soundscapes, ethereal ambient music and vocals that soak into the mind and spirit, she creates captivating surreal worlds and electronic soundscapes inviting on an introspective journey. Her works are a mixture of dreams, hidden fantasies, haunting fears, observing the nature and overanalysing the world around and within.

Inwards

inwards

We’ve known Inwards for providing a perfect electronic platform opening for Ulrich Schnauss in Brighton. After attending last year’s Lewes Psych Festival, he came to us with psych influenced material and we had to say yes.

Inwards is the musical project of Kristian Shelley, a British born multi instrumentalist and music programmer. Working with a modular synthesiser, a glut of patching cables and his voice, he evokes a nostalgic yet colourful sonic field.

Arch Garrison

ag02

This is the first year of the Union Music in-stores at the Psych Fest. Union Music Store put on great events all year round and we’re glad they are part of it.

You probably know Craig Fortnam. the singer and writer and James Larcombe of Arch Garrison from the critically acclaimed North Sea Radio Orchestra.

The latest album ‘Pilgrim’is a homage to the Sussex Down’s as Craig walked the ancient paths as an act of connecting to something intangible but present in the marks left by man, be the burial mounds or pylons – it’s all the same really – all grist to the songwriting mill – walk walk hum sing walk.

Their music features Fortnam’s intricate nylon-string guitar and Larcombe’s organ and monosynth – ancient/modern folk music seen through a psych haze, like a distant pylon on a hot summer’s day.
