The most celebrated modern folk band in the UK, Lau, bring their music to Brighton.

Named after an Orcadian word meaning “natural light” (although
deliberately misspelled it from “lowe”), LAU formed in Edinburgh in
2006 and were quickly hailed as a band of rare innovation and
invention. Consisting of Martin Green (accordion and electronics),
Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle, fx) and Kris Drever (vocals, guitars), for a decade they have been stretching folk music’s boundaries further and exploring new musical territory with each release and concert tour.

Their empathetic interplay and unexpected twists, soaring sounds and energy in their music made them an instant hit live, partly because
nobody – not even the band members – knew exactly what they’d do next.

2012’s ‘Race The Loser’ album was nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and featured in many critics best of year lists. the group have been nominated for ‘Best Group’ in the BBC folk awards.

“The U.K’s best live band” – The Guardian *****
“The most celebrated modern folk band in the UK” – Brooklyn Vegas
