Following his recent signing to Domino Records, award winning Canadian Songwriter/Pianist/Composer Patrick Watson comes to the Komedia this May for one of only two UK shows!
This prominent Canadian artist is well renowned for his delicate and distinctive live performances, and those who packed in to the Brighton Ballroom in 2008 will understand what a prodigious talent he is! Since unveiling his 2001 debut he’s shared stages with the likes of Feist, John Cale and The Cinematic Orchestra.
Watson will be releasing his new album, Adventures In Your Own Backyard, through the legendary Domino Records label this April, and it’s a remarkable piece of work. Adventures… was made at home, and goes back to his roots in his native Montreal after an epic five-year run that saw Patrick and his band (bassist Mishka Stein, guitarist Simon Angell and drummer Robbie Kuster) touring the globe in support of two critically-acclaimed albums, including the Polaris Prize-winning Close To Paradise, and it promises to be one of this year’s most evocative records.
Given Watson’s reputation and penchant for creating magical acoustic landscapes, there’s no doubt that this will be a show to remember!
Check out Patrick’s stunning new single, Into Giants, here now!
‘…Giving fellow Montreal natives Arcade Fire a run for their money.’ The Guardian
‘From the same tight-knit artistic scene in Montreal that birthed Arcade Fire and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Patrick Watson has been quietly earning a fearsome live reputation. The spontaneous-sounding arrangements – topped by Watson’s uniquely mercurial voice – are at turns ornate, grand and subtle, but never less than totally bewitching.’ NME
