Brighton-born Esben and the Witch have forged a sound that springs forth from minds soaked in influences far beyond any standard set of musical touchstones. The trio, Daniel Copeman, Rachel Davies and Thomas Fisher, draw inspiration from the weird and wonderful, be it nature, literature, art or even the occasional Scott Parker or PJ Harvey record. 2010 has proved to be a huge year for the group, having found a permanent home with legendary indie Matador Records, touring North America with Foals and even performing at their new label’s 21st birthday bash in Las Vegas.
Triumphantly returning home in 2011, Esben and the Witch are heading up a raft of new bands who are not only lurking in the shadows, they are flourishing there.
