5 (yes FIVE) New Show Announcements!

Whoever said 3 was the magic number were wrong. Today we have 3 new Brighton announcements for you and 2 MASSIVE shows for Revelation St Mary’s in Ashford! That’s 5 NEW SHOWS IN TOTAL!! (That’s why there’s a Brighton number 5 bus there as the picture incase you got confused.)

Winner of the 2010 Folk Award for Best Newcomer, we are thrilled to announce Sam Carter coming to Komedia in March! In the three years since his debut album ‘Keepsakes’ was released he has performed alongside Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson, Chris Wood and Martin Simpson – all of which happen to be Melting Vinyl favourites! He will be performing at Komedia with his new album ‘The No Testament’ on the 13th March and tickets are on sale now, here!

Talking of favourites in that list we also have Chris Wood with an intimate performance at The Basement! We like using The Basement venue recently, what with David Bazan heading there tonight and King Creosote there in April. If you’ve been you can understand why we’ve fallen in love with it! The intimate, well-lit space captures these artist’s songs so perfectly. “Chris Wood has developed into an exceptional songwriter …venturing into areas that few artists would dare tackle” say The Guardian, and they are really on the money; and not just that, Joan Armatrading presented Chris with the 2011 BBC Radio Two Folk Singer Of The Year award before inviting him as special guest onto her Autumn 2012 tour! Don’t miss this special show on 26th April, tickets on sale here!

Now, something a little different to what you’d normally expect from us.. we are excited to welcome energetic New Zealand band Die! Die! Die! to The Green Door Store in March! Having spent the better part of the past 8 years on the road, Die! Die! Die! now want to ‘make your head, heart, and soul their home.’ Isn’t that nice? Die! Die! Die!’s raw energy and emotion offers a savant-pop drenched with DIY punk philosophy. Their new album ‘Harmony’ was produced by Chris Townend (Portishead, D12, Violent Femmes). Are you a fan of Black Flag, Pixies, the Wipers, Wire, and Bailterspace? You will then LOVE this band. Tickets for their show at The Green Door Store on 21st March are on sale here now!

Two exciting shows are heading to Ashford with thanks to Revelation St Mary’s, and the first is Supergrass legend Gaz Coombes!

Do we need to say a lot about this one? Supergrass. Gaz Coombes. Solo. ‘Here Come The Bombs’ (his first solo offering since the Britpop stars called it a day in 2010). Excitement! Tickets are selling fast but if you’re quick you can get yours now, here!

And finally, we feel like we’ve said this a lot, but it’s only because we LOVE these sisters! That’s right, The Staves are performing at St Mary’s Church, too!

Now for those of you that have seen The Staves, which we’re guessing is most of you seeing as they played for us at Proud Cabaret AND Komedia last year, will understand how good these girls are. Take those memories and add a church. Yep, pretty special. Tickets for this will go very fast so get yours while you can here.

And finally just a reminder that if you’re a student, you can go and see jazz LEGEND Courtney Pine at Komedia next week (7th Feb) for just £10! A tenner! All other tickets are still available here.

Let us know via Twitter at @MeltingVinyl who you’re most excited for, or tweet us tomorrow and tell us how much you LOVED David Bazan!
