The Best Of SXSW Coming To Brighton This Year!

What a crazy week we’ve had weather wise! Spring to blizzard and back to spring! The sun finally being out makes us a little bit excited for actual spring, especially for the shows coming up in the next few weeks!

This week also saw the start to SXSW, you know, that little festival/conference thing in America for music, technology and film. No biggie; and we’re not even slightly jealous of anyone who’s gone. Honestly, we’re really not! Because some of our artists from previous years are showcasing their work at SXSW this year, including Toro Y Moi, Besnard Lakes, Fear Of Men and Erin McKeown who paid us a visit just a month ago at The Latest Music Bar! Not only that, but some of our shows coming up are heading over to Austin to play this and next week, too!

Today, well-crafted sisterly dream pop foursome TEEN will be playing. With their harmonies and vocal arrangements they will be wowing the audience at SXSW today, which is why we’re so lucky/excited to have them play in Brighton in a few weeks as it won’t be long until they’ll be selling out massive venues; and we’re not the only ones excited for this! Our mates at Brighton Noise wrote this fab preview for the show, which you can read about here!

Last week we announced that Devendra Banhart will be coming to T.O.M The Old Market in June and yes, you guessed it, he is also playing SXSW this week. Tickets for his show at T.O.M are selling really really fast so don’t miss out on this, don’t say we didn’t warn you! Well not only did we announce Devendra Banhart, we also announced that, after selling out the Komedia in 2011 storming back to Brighton at St George’s Church is Ron Sexsmith!

Ron Sexsmith is by far one of musics true greats, and everyone at SXSW are in for a real treat as his live performances are renowned for being intimate heartwarming affairs. With his new album Forever Endeavour out now, don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see him at the beautiful St George’s Church. Tickets for this are also selling really fast, so get yours while you still can here!

Straight after Ron’s show at SXSW (The Grammy Museum’s Musical Mileston showcase to be exact) Luke Sital-Singh will follow, showcasing his new EP Old Flint with the single Bottled Up Tight. Luke has gone from strength to strength since supporting our favourite sisters The Staves at the Komedia show back in November, and ALSO appearing at SXSW is (can you see a theme yet?) The Staves! After selling our Komedia AND Proud Cabaret last year, they are visiting us again (yay!) this time with Revelation St Mary’s at the majestic St Mary’s Church in Ashford. Their new video for their single Facing West is available to watch here!

At Melting Vinyl we have always been known for bringing the cream of live music to Brighton and have always been trusted in our opinion, so we’re happy that a great deal of Melting Vinyl favourites are appearing at SXSW this year. Tickets for all shows are available on our webiste!
